A Dog Named Kitty

Meet Kitty — a 70-pound Golden Retriever with a whole lot of personality... and a name that makes absolutely no sense!

Sure, she likes naps, snacks, and squeezing into tight spaces. But chew shoes? Chase squirrels? Splash in puddles? Yep, she’s all dog — no matter what her name says. In a house full of quirky pets (and even quirkier humans), Kitty is on a mission to clear up one thing: She. Is. Not. A. Cat.

Told with wit, charm, and a whole lot of tail-wagging sass, A Dog Named Kitty is a hilarious and heartfelt story about identity, family, and what happens when names get a little... mixed up.

Perfect for young readers, pet lovers, and anyone who’s ever had a name that didn’t really fit…

About Me

My name is Deonna Baney and I a wife and mother before anything else! I have two wonderful little girls, that are currently 5 and 10! They are my inspiration behind my funny little stories and the reason that I do all that I do!

I moved to Arkansas in 2011 when I was in the Army Reserves and served active duty for the Wounded Warrior Project before meeting my now husband and deciding to stay after my orders were up. I served my country for 8 years, but it was time to have a family and do something different.

I decided to go to nursing school after getting out of the Army in 2015. It was the best and most rewarding career choice that I ever had. I have been an Oncology Registered Nurse for the past 8 years and last year, I decided to do more and become a children’s book author so that I can use my books to help give back to the patients that I loved so dearly.

I have published three books and have another coming out soon, but I decided recently that I wanted to start writing in different genres as well and for all age groups. I am currently writing a novel as well as some more children’s books.

I am a believer in doing the most that you can in your life and being kind to others!

I am the founder and organizer of The Cabot July Jubilee and Car Show that was established in 2024. It is a fundraising event to help families in Arkansas that have been affected by cancer by giving them some financial assistance while going through treatments. It is in memory of all the patients that I cared for that passed from cancer.

If you want to know anything else about me, just ask!

I would love to meet you!
